OBJECT OF ROTARY: To encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.

PURPOSE: To inform prospective members of the SIRC of the commitments they are making when joining the club.

ATTENDANCE: SIRC Attendance Goal is 90%. The minimum attendance level required by Rotary International is 60%. If your attendance record is less than 60% due to unexcused absences, your membership will be terminated in accordance with the Standard Rotary Club Constitution. Perfect attendance awards are made annually. Meeting make-ups can be obtained for attendance at club sponsored events, committee meetings and at any Rotary Club. When making up at a Rotary Club, please obtain a make up slip from the club and return to SIRC Secretary.

4-WAY TEST: Uphold the 4-Way Test in all activities. 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2 Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

PARTICIPATION IN SIRC EVENTS: Must actively participate in SIRC activities. Examples of these activities are SIRC committees, club fellowships, blood drives, and SIRC sponsored community volunteer efforts. You will be given a committee assignment.

PARTICIPATION IN YOUTH TASK FORCE: Must actively participate in SIRC’s Youth Task Force. SIRC has a long standing commitment to the Youth Task Force program. Specific programs are designed for Beaufort Elementary, Beaufort Middle, Battery Creek HS (Interact) & Beaufort HS. You will be assigned to one of these programs.

ROTARY FOUNDATION: Participate in the Every Rotarian Every Year Program. The SIRC has made a commitment to this program that supports the Rotary Foundation. The commitment requires that you donate a minimum of $50/year to the Foundation to become a Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member. The SIRC will match your donation up to $100/year. Your contribution can be billed quarterly as part of your Dues statement. Please contact the SIRC Treasurer to arrange the billing. The Rotary Foundation is a charitable organization funded by contributions from Rotarians around the world, for projects and programs identified by Rotarians and administered by Rotarians at the project sites located around the world.

DUES PAYMENT: Prompt payment of dues. Dues cover the operational costs of the SIRC (meals, fellowship functions, conference costs, ect.) Dues for the Rotary year 2005-2006 are $680/year and are billed in $170/quarter installments. In addition to the dues, new members are assessed a one-time $50 fee to cover the cost of the new member package.

FUND RAISING: Support and Participate in all SIRC sponsored fund raising events. All income raised through fund raising activities is distributed to various local, national and international charities. These activities include participation in Water Festival and Beaufort Charities activities, and SIRC fund raisers. One SIRC annual fund raiser will require that you purchase a $100 ticket to attend a barbeque dinner & fellowship event where prizes will be awarded. Other fund raisers may require you to sell tickets to the public and/or solicit sponsorships for certain events.
